CILICIA. Seleucia ad Calycadnus. Gordian III, 238-244. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 29 mm, 12.35 g, 7 h). ANTΩNIOC ΓOPΔIANOC CЄBATOC (sic!) Radiate and draped bust of Gordian III to right, seen from behind; on neck, countermark: monogram of ΔO within triangular incuse. Rev. СЄΛЄYΚЄΩΝ TΩ - ΠPOC / TΩ Κ Athena standing right, holding aegis on her left arm and hurling thunderbolt at a giant who is throwing stones. SNG Levante 764 var. (differing reverse legend). SNG Paris 1012. For countermark, Howgego 670. A lovely example with a fine green patina. Very fine.
